"With death comes the ultimate truth, an understanding of life and its transience that no other experience can provide. We live in a world where we rarely take the time to consider death; however, it is inevitable and should be embraced instead of feared. Sitting with the dead is more than just acceptance; it is a way to honor the lives that have come before us. Every life lost allows us to accept our mortality, consider our own lives in a different light and make each day count. It is paradoxically both sad and beautiful – a privilege worth taking if one seeks to gain wisdom from understanding this impermanence."
With over twenty years as a caregiver for families, including her own, Michele knows fully that death is a topic most people prefer to avoid in everyday conversation. But for end-of-life consultant Michele Cynthia, it’s a daily centerpiece in her life journey, one whose stigma she’s working hard to remove by Illuminating the topic that is so often hushed.
"Dignity is not negotiable. Dignity is the honor of the family."
Michele is a true inspiration and a powerful presence in the spiritual life coaching scene. With empathy, compassion, and wisdom, which surpasses her years, she has guided many families who have gone through the horrific traumas of losing their loved ones. Moreover, Michele has been counseling some of Hollywood's creative artists, helping them navigate on and off the screen. Even personal injury attorneys seek her insight to guide grieving individuals in managing their psychological struggles after traumatizing events. She is truly an extraordinary individual that has made an impactful difference in many lives.
"I encourage a sturdy voice amid a society that is in fear of feeling."
For Michele, tucking death into a closet not meant to be opened isn’t an option. She believes life is precious right up to the very last breath, and those whose lives we lost require compassion, emotional support, and spiritual guidance when it's most challenging for their loved ones to provide.
“As a society, we’re uncomfortable witnessing other people’s emotional pain, particularly concerning death,” she explains. “We tend to shy away from conversations about death and with those grieving the loss or inevitable loss of someone special to them. We think we do this to give them space and honor their feelings, but in reality, this can feel like abandonment and a lack of compassion.”
It was in 1996 when Michele first realized that death had become an integral part of her life. She first embraced that calling when she volunteered as a hair and makeup artist at local funeral homes. Little did she know just how deeply her relationship with death would grow. Two years later, Michele experienced a powerful cleansing and initiatory moment - on the eve of the transition of her grandmother, Michele pierced the veil, returning home with no words but a surreal understanding of what had occurred. She knew she had been through something genuinely transformational and unique, one that would strengthen her bond with death and create a path for others to walk upon.
"It was the most glorious feeling of Unconditional Love. It was not a vision. I physically transcended and transitioned my grandmother to the other side as we elevated together into this tranquil place of timeless space."
“All of a sudden, my body felt like melted butter,” Michele recalls. “I was in the most beautiful, serene place I had ever been, and I visually saw many spirits. They surrounded, embraced, and supported my grandmother’s journey with gentleness, knowledge, and guidance.” It was a moment that brought Michele divine peace. She knew it was a gift worth sharing with others, but in 1998, she only told one person. Slyvia Brown, a world-renowned medium, told Michele she would someday change people's lives.
"Death is a fearful gaze for many. I feel so grateful to release that fear of the unknown to all I've transitioned through the years. Sometimes I even see my loved ones, which is such a breathtaking moment."
As an intuitive Heyoka Empath, she uses this gift to facilitate the parting of souls at their last moments. Her work as a Death Shaman is essential and meaningful - she guides people in crossing over to the spirit world in peace and comfort while supporting their families in healthy grieving.
